Children's Vision Care

At Professional Vision, we prioritize the vision and health of our young patients. Research suggests that approximately 5% to 10% of pre-schoolers and 25% of school-aged children may experience vision challenges.

We strongly support early eye exams based on the American Optometric Association (AOA) recommendations. Children's eyes should undergo examinations at six months of age, at three years old, and once more as they begin their school journey. For individuals without specific vision concerns or risk factors, it is advisable to request regular eye exams at least every two years during their school years.

Children with preexisting vision issues or identified risk factors require more frequent eye examinations. Common risk factors include premature birth, developmental delays, a family history of eye conditions, and more. For those who wear eyeglasses or contact lenses, it is advisable to undergo a comprehensive eye check-up at least annually, as directed by their eye doctor.

At Professional Vision, we are dedicated to delivering attentive and specialized care for our young patients, fostering the growth of their vision right from the beginning.

Our Adult Vision Care Approach

At Professional Vision, we advocate for attentive eye care at every stage of adulthood, aligning with the American Optometric Association (AOA) guidelines.

If you wear eyeglasses or contacts, requesting an annual eye exam will ensure your vision needs receive attention. For those without a need for vision correction, eye exams every two to three years up to the age of 40 are vital, considering your rate of visual change and overall health.

Doctors often advise more frequent examinations, especially for adults managing conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, as these can significantly impact vision and overall eye health.

As you reach 40 and beyond, prioritizing your eye health becomes paramount. Regular eye exams every one to two years help detect and manage age-related eye issues such as presbyopia, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
